Trader Joe’s Frozen Food Recall Expands
The Trader Joe’s fried rice recall has expanded after reports of possible glass contamination in frozen food products sold nationwide. The recall now includes more than 33 million pounds of frozen foods produced by Ajinomoto Foods North America.
The recall now affects approximately 33,617,045 pounds of frozen food products, according to statements from Ajinomoto Foods North America, the manufacturer involved in the recall.
The issue came to light after the company received multiple consumer complaints reporting pieces of glass found in certain frozen food products.
Products Included in the Trader Joe’s Recall
Several Trader Joe’s branded frozen foods are affected by the recall.
The products include:
- Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice
Best By Dates: 03/04/2026 through 02/10/2027 - Trader Joe’s Vegetable Fried Rice
Best By Dates: 02/28/2026 through 11/19/2026 - Trader Joe’s Japanese Style Fried Rice
Best By Dates: 02/28/2026 through 11/14/2026 - Trader Joe’s Chicken Shu Mai
Best By Dates: 03/13/2026 through 10/23/2026
The recall was expanded after the manufacturer determined that additional frozen food products could potentially be affected.
Products Included in the Trader Joe’s Fried Rice Recall
According to Ajinomoto Foods North America, the recall expansion includes ready-to-eat and not-ready-to-eat chicken and pork products, including fried rice, ramen, and dumplings.

Some of the recalled products were sold under several different brand names, including:
- Ajinomoto
- Kroger
- Ling Ling
- Tai Pei
- Trader Joe’s
Some of the products may also have been exported to Canada and Mexico.
Why the Recall Was Issued
Officials issued the recall after reports that some products may contain glass.
Ajinomoto Foods North America stated that the company expanded the recall out of caution after receiving consumer complaints.
At this time, no injuries or adverse reactions have been reported, but the recall was expanded to prevent potential harm.
What Customers Should Do
Consumers who purchased the recalled frozen food products are advised to:
- Do not consume the products
- Discard them immediately
- Return them to the store for a full refund
